[how to use this wiki]

navigating around e e learning

there are numerous ways to navigate around eelearning. here are descriptions of the menus available to you.

the wiki navigation menu

at the top of every page, you will find this menu. the buttons are:

  • home - this brings you back to the front page of the entire wiki.
  • edit page - this takes you to the wiki code for the page. this is where you go if you wish to make a change, addition, or deletion directly to the page. please be sure you're familiar with pbwiki style before making comments or changes using this method.
  • new page - you can create a new page in eelearning by using this button. this is not the preferred method for creating a new page because it does not link the page to anywhere in the wiki. see creating a new page tutorial below for the preferred method.
  • comments - clicking this button will take you to any comments which others have written regarding this page. it also is the place to create a comment about the page as well. for the web 2.0 reviewsection of this wiki - it is preferred that you use this feature instead of editing dave's opinions.
  • files - if you'd like to upload a file to share with others, you can do so here. please don't get carried away.

the eelearning navigation menu

stuck between the eelearning nameplate and the sidebar you will find the eelearning navigation menu. this will help you navigate within and between the various sections of eelearning. (there is only one active section at the moment.) the buttons may change from page to page, but they will be a subset of the following:

  • topic home - whatever topic you are in, this will take you back to the home page for that topic. these are the topics which are listed on the wiki home page.
  • summary table - this is your shortcut to the summary table for the web 2.0 review topic.
  • discussion - this will take you to a discussion forum for the topic. here you can discuss the general topic or any of the specific issues in the topic area.
  • eelearning wiki - same as the "home" button in the wiki navigation, this button will take you back to the home page of the entire wiki.
  • eelearning blog - this will take you back to the eelearning blog front page. you will be leaving eelearning wiki when you click this button.
  • faq - this will take you to a page where you can explore questions others have asked about eelearning wiki or ask your own question. instructions for the faq appear at the top of the page.

e e learning style

lower case letters

e e learning uses a style that calls for no capitalization - of anything. if you see a capitalized letter, it's either a type on my part or a system control that i haven't figured out how to change yet. go ahead and give it a try. it ain't as easy as you might think.

hyperlinks

in e e learning, all hyperlinks are red until you cursor over them and then they invert to white type on a red background. this differs from the standard pbwiki style of underlining hyperlinks (which you might see occasionally because I haven't gotten to re-coding those links yet). you can assume that if it's red (underlined or not), it's a hyperlink.

while wikis tend to follow similar rules and styles, no two are exactly alike. if you find that something you are trying to do doesn't work. check the wiki styles.
