summary of the application

de.lic.ious is the hands down leader in social bookmarking applications when judged by number of users and number of mash-ups and knock-offs. it's simple interface allows you to quickly scan the sites that you and others have bookmarked. the sites bookmarked in de.lic.ious can be sorted by tags, list owner, or a listing everyone who had tagged a specific site. when you find a site you like, you can add it to your favorites and or recommend it to a friend. a powerful api has enable various mash-up tools and the ability to import your de.lic.ious bookmarks into most browsers and other applications.

personal effectiveness xxx

de.lic.ious is one of the major players in the web 2.0 world. the are the powerhouse social bookmarking program due to their being first mover in this marketplace. de.lic.ious has more users than any of the players in this market and number of people is a success indicator for social applications. their simple interface and their automatic linking add-ons for just about any program on the net, it seems, keep the de.lic.ious de.light.ed loyal.

however, i'm not a big fan of de.lic.ious. i find the over simplified interface sometimes too minimalist. the result is it's hard to find what you are looking for. the lack of a batch importer to pull your bookmarks out of your browser when you first sign up is the primary reason I initially went with blinklist. their social networking is pretty much limited to finding cool bookmarks on other people's list.

learning effectiveness xxx

in this day and age, every student should be building a list of bookmarks that are connected to their school work. having them available on the net is a tremendous help when you don't know what computer you are going to be using. de.lic.ious is just as good as most at providing such a resource.

coolness xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxupdated

this is your grandfather's social bookmarking application. it's adequate and does the job (which to many it enough), but it has no pizzazz.

update 12/13

ok, i'll admit that i may have misunderstood some of de.lic.ious's appeal previously, but what's got me psyched about it and willing to move their coolness rating up to four e's is the firefox extension that replaces your firefox bookmarks with your de.lic.ious bookmarks and tags. up until this point, de.lic.ious, and the other social bookmarking tools, basically required that you keep a separate set of bookmarks in your browser and another online in de.lic.ious (or other tool). this tightly integrated tool is designed to be no-risk in that simply uninstalling the extension re-installs your original browser bookmarks to their original state.
